More than 200 corrupt officials are believed to have absconded abroad, Economic Observer reported (in Chinese). The deputy director of the Anti Corruption Bureau of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, Wang Limin, gave the estimate at a national procurator forum, while adding that the figure was lower than numbers that were circulating on the internet. Wang said the offenders usually transferred their ill-gotten income abroad and then fled to a Western or neighbouring country escape prosecution.
