13 South Korean casino managers arrested in China

Police in China have arrested 13 casino managers from South Korea as well as Chinese agents as part of what state media have called a probe into “criminal gangs” from five South Korean casinos that “enticed” Chinese citizens with free tours, hotel rooms and sexual services for their patronage, Reuters reported. Casinos are not allowed to legally advertise on the mainland, but operators typically skirt this restriction by promoting casino’s associated resorts. A South Korean tourism ministry official said the 13 Koreans are employees of Grand Korea Leisure and Paradise, and that it was unclear if they had been charged.
