China's banking watchdog reported 240 cases of corruption in state-owned commercial banks in the first half of the year with losses totaling US$197 million, state media reported. The money embezzled in the first six months of the year amounts to half money stolen from China's banks to date, a State Banking Regulatory Commission official was quoted as saying.
