Air China, Air Macau raise surcharges

Air China and Air Macau will raise their fuel surcharges on routes linking the Chinese mainland and Macau to US$27.50 from US$25 per person starting December 1 to counter rising jet fuel costs.
The adjustment comes after Air China, China Eastern Airlines and Hainan Airlines increased their fuel surcharges on domestic routes in late October to RMB70 (US$10.55) from RMB40 per passenger for routes longer than 800 kilometers. The surcharge was doubled to RMB40 for shorter distances.

China.org.cn  reported that fuel costs are the biggest component of an airline’s expenses, accounting for more than 40% of total costs.
