[photopress:nepal.jpg, full, alignright]Air China is preparing to extend its service to Nepal from various cities in China beginning early next year.

Qiao Shuwen, general manager of the Kathmandu Office of Air China, said the airline would operate one daily flight from Lhasa to Kathmandu from July-October 2007. The carrier had been operating flights on the Lhasa-Kathmandu route only during the high tourism season.

Passengers will be able to fly to Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Qingdao and other major cities from Kathmandu on the same day, once China Air expands its service. This agreement was signed by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and Air China late last month.

Air China has also announced its new daily flight schedule between Chendgu-Lhasa-Kathmandu for the July 1-October 30 high season. The airline will operate four flights a week from March 29-June 30 and once a week during low season, from November 1- March 28.
