French telecommunications equipment maker Alcatel won a bid to supply a television satellite to China Sat for the 2008 Olympic Games. The value of the deal, signed during Chinese Vice Prime Minister Zeng Peiyan's visit to France, was not disclosed but it is thought to be in the range of US$100 million.
