Alibaba financial affiliate Ant Financial has acquired a stake in respected mainland media group Caixin Media, AllChinaTech reported, citing an unnamed source at Caixin. Caixin Media, which is run together with financial news magazine Caixin by renowned founder and editor-in-chief Hu Shuli, announced this week that it was nearing completion of a Series C financing round, but did not name investors. Caixin Media said in a statement that its “new investors will, just like our former investors, respect Caixin’s independent editorial principle, and respect Caixin’s internal safety net and our regulations that ensure our media credibility”.
