Alibaba reports hacker attacks

Chinese online trading platform Alibaba.com (1688.HK) said its English-language beta testing site AliExpress was attacked by unidentified hackers, the Wall Street Journal reported. It said that the attacks, which temporarily affected access to the site, appeared to be targeting its servers in the US and China. There was no exposure of customer data, the company said. AliExpress is a wholesale platform Alibaba is developing for its international marketplace, designed to facilitate bulk transactions for small- and medium-sized Chinese exporters. Alibaba said the hacker attacks will not affect the planned launch date of AliExpress, scheduled for later this month.
