Beijing has granted a six-day holiday for government and quasi-government employees, as well as announced plans to reduce traffic during the November 10th and 11th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum, South China Morning Post reported. Plans to reintroduce the odd-even license plate scheme will be supplemented with an additional 400 public busses during this period in an effort to reduce traffic congestion and pollution. These moves mimic steps taken during the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2001 APEC meeting in Shanghai, which closed schools as well as governmental departments.
