Beijing Hyundai, a JV between South Korea's biggest automaker, Hyundai Motors, and Beijing Automotive Investment, announced plans to almost triple output in 2004, despite government moves to slow down expansion in the sector.
In 2004 the JV plans to expand annual production capacity of its existing plant from 150,000 vehicles to 300,000 and begin work on a new 300,000-unit plant.
It hopes to increase production from 55,000 vehicles in 2003 to 150,000 in 2004, 200,000 in 2006 and 600,000 in 2008.
