Chinese officials are looking to unify foreign investment laws with a national company law, ensuring that foreign ventures in China receive equal treatment with domestic companies, China Daily reported. The National People’s Congress Standing Committee said it would accelerate research on a new corporate legal framework. Foreign companies have complained that differential treatment in investment law led to preferential treatment in business, breeding unfair competition between foreign and local enterprises. The announcement comes as China seeks to attract further foreign investment. Premier Li Keqiang pledged equal treatment to foreign companies in China last week.
