Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway is expected to seriously profitable

The Beijing-Shanghai high-speed rail project is currently running smoothly and is expected to be fully in operation by the end of 2012. The Ministry of Railways said the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway is expected almost immediately to become the world’s most profitable railway line. 
 
One description of the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway is that it is "long-term railway network planning". It is the largest investment and, at the same time, contains the highest technical content of such a project, probably in the world. It is also China’s first world-class high-speed railway, designed to reach 350 kilometers per hour.
 
Daily Economic News, in Chinese, said that statistics show that Beijing-Shanghai high-speed rail line had a basic investment of more than RMB2,200 billion. The Ministry of Railways states the return on investment will be faster than expected.
