Beijing to promote Olympics projects

China announced that it will hold a conference this month April 2004 to promote 2008 Olympics construction and service projects to foreign and domestic investors. A total of 376 construction and renovation projects estimated to be worth RMB 136 billion (US$16.39 billion) were scheduled to be presented at the conference. Beijing officials said that 22 projects worth RMB 55 billion, including four metro lines, were already planned for the city. Two Beijing companies, Invest Beijing International and Beijing Engineering Consulting were selected to handle promotion and bidding on the Olympics projects. Representatives from Fortune 500 firms were registered to participate in the conference.
