Mobile phone panels are still taking up their major market share But PDA panels, digital cameras and digital video camera panels, DVD panels, PMP/MP3/MP4 panels, on-board panels and GPS panels, are growing in importance.
Shanghai Tianma’s product sales account for between 3 and 4% of the world’s total small screen market share
South Korean technology giant Samsung Electronics is the world’s top supplier of TFT-LCD products, followed by LG Philips. Shanghai Tianma ranks about number five.
The enterprise has been the biggest investment by the China Aviation Industry Corporation I (CAICI) in non-aviation industrial sectors, and the Shanghai municipal government strongly supports the project.
Last year Shanghai Tianma invested US$480 million on a new 4.5 G. TFT-LCD production line.
The 300,000 sq m facility, in the Zhang Jiang High Tech Zone of Pudong district, Shanghai, came onstream in March and has a monthly capacity of 30,000 units. Much more HERE.
