BMW formally launched its joint venture assembly plant in Shenyang, Liaoning Province which will produce the German-based luxury carmaker's 3 and 5 Series vehicles. The plant is a 50:50 JV with Brilliance China Automotive and is expected to have an annual production capacity of 30,000 cars. Company officials said the plant will allow BMW to produce and sell 150,000 cars annually by 2008 increasing from 93,000 in 2003.
