US President George W. Bush said he still plans to attend the opening ceremonies of the Olympics in Beijing, but urged Chinese leaders to open a dialogue with the Dalai Lama, Reuters reported. A number of high-ranking Democrats, including Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, have called for a boycott of the opening ceremony, while Barack Obama has made similar calls, though in less direct language.
