BYD planning to be world's largest automaker

Chinese automaker BYD is aiming to be the world’s top car manufacturer by 2025, AP reported. BYD hopes to become the biggest car maker in China by 2015. A BYD executive said that the company would be expanding into overseas markets including Europe and the US. Analysts said that BYD’s goal was realistic because of the company’s rapid growth in Asia. BYD received global attention last fall when Warren Buffett’s MidAmerican Energy Holdings bought a 9.9% stake in the Hong Kong-traded company.
