China Southern Airlines, the largest mainland airline, and Air France struck a codeshare agreement on the Paris-Guangzhou route after 18 months of negotiations. From January 5, China Southern will buy blocks of seats on Air France's five weekly flights between the cities. The service will become daily on June 14, with the Chinese carrier adding four weekly flights of its own two weeks later.
China Southern also introduced a fourth weekly flight between Sydney and Guangzhou to meet the peak summer season demand from December through February. The additional service, operating every Saturday from December 13 to February 7, follows the airline's recent decision to resume a third weekly service between Australia and China.
