SMIC to make chips for cellular chip giant TI

Leading contract chip maker Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp, which just opened its new facility for making large plate 300 mm wafers, said it will produce high-end 90-nanometre semiconductors for Texas Instruments, the world's top mobile phone chip supplier. Kerry to build new China power plant

Kerry Properties announced yesterday that Kerry Electricity Jiangxi, a wholly owned subsidiary, had signed a HK$4.71 billion (US$603.84 million) joint-venture agreement to build and operate a 2×600 MW coal-fired power plant in Jiangxi province. Kerry Electricity will take a 33% stake in the venture, with the remaining shareholding held by three mainland partners.
