Caution urged in pricing renewable energy

Energy industry experts and government officials are cautioning that proposed laws on renewable energy "more costly than traditional fuels" should be carefully considered, state media reported. They warned policy markers to be judicious in balancing the interests of different groups within the economy. State agencies are drafting rules for China's first renewable energy law, passed in February and scheduled to take effect from Jan. 1. A major issue will be the pricing of electricity produced with renewable energy to China's power grids, both for industries and individual consumers. Nuclear, wind and solar power are part of he mix.
