China Chinese Television (CCTV) plans to expand its pay-television network to 30 channels from the current six by the end of the year.
The new channels will provide a mix of domestic and foreign programming and the state broadcaster said it is also looking for advice and assistance from experienced foreign companies on technical support, operation and management, sales and marketing, and customer services.
In September, in co-operation with China Film Group and Beijing Media Group, CCTV launched six pay channels in 33 cities, in addition to its 12 terrestrial channels.
It plans to have 150 channels in five years.
