The architect of the China Central Television (CCTV) complex in Beijing said the state broadcaster would repair the Television Cultural Center building, which was damaged in a fire in February, the Wall Street Journal reported. "The preliminary findings are that the building can be repaired. It’s still intact and safe. There will mainly be a repair effort but not a complete rebuilding," said Ole Scheeren, an architect with the Office of Metropolitan Architecture who designed the complex together with Rem Koolhaas. The building, which was to house a luxury hotel as well as CCTV offices, was set alight by an unauthorized fireworks display for the Lunar New Year holiday that had been arranged by a CCTV official.
