Cellphone output up 4.6%

There were 562.716 million mobile phones in the first eleven months of 2009 which is a year-on-year growth of 4.6%. This is an official figure as it comes from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China (MIIT).

The total output of base stations jumped 112.8% to 27.501 million channels.

However, as is inevitable, the output of fixed-line phones plunged 20.2% to 132.2 million sets.

TMC News reported that major sized communications equipment companies achieved total sales of $110 billion from January to November 2009, including $108 billion from overseas markets, down 2% and 12.4%, respectively.
