Charter flights look set to start between Shanghai and Tokyo

[photopress:Tokyo.gif, full, alignright]Shanghai and Tokyo have agreed to start talks on operating charter flights between the two cities. The agreement is aimed at increasing tourism and achieving the target number of bilateral people exchanges between China and Japan, set in November, to 5 million in 2007.

State Councillor Tang Jiaxuan said the two countries ‘have already broken the five-year political stalemate and bought bilateral ties to the normal stage of development.’

China’s visitors to Japan increased this year to 850,000.
