China Eastern Airlines and Alitalia have announced a codesharing agreement.
Starting June 1, China Eastern will operate four weekly flights between Rome and Shanghai in codeshare with Alitalia , while Alitalia will service four weekly flights between Rome and Beijing in codeshare with China Eastern.
The companies said the move strengthens the presence in Asia of the Italian airline and will introduce China Eastern to the Italian market.
The agreement between the two airlines also includes the extension of codesharing to domestic routes within Italy and China.
ETravel Blackboard suggests the new partnership consolidates the position of the SkyTeam alliance in Asia, which China Eastern will join in 2011.
