China and the EU agreed to improve cooperation on trade at the conclusion of a two-day series of talks in Brussels, AFP reported. “Trade and investment will lead us out of the current crisis,” EU Trade Commissioner Catherine Ashton said. Trade relations are expected to be the focus of a China-EU summit in Prague on May 20. Trade disagreements between the EU and China had been increasing, with Europe opening a series of anti-dumping cases against Chinese industries. However, Vice Premier Wang Qishan said after the talks that, “The two sides agreed to oppose protectionism in trade and investment, consolidate the already progress in the Doha round of negotiations and work for the early success of the round of negotiations.”
