China has been stepping up Ebola prevention measures in Guangdong province, home to Asia’s largest African population, Reuters reported. As many as 190 flights per month travel between Guangdong and Africa, resulting in more than 60% of passengers arriving on the mainland from West Africa landing in Guangdong. With China’s biggest trade exhibition, the Canton Fair, taking place at the provincial capital of Guangzhou, the central government has asked the province to step up it safety measures. Testing procedures at entry ports have been expanded, and 27 hospitals have been designated to handle possible Ebola cases. No cases of Ebola have yet emerged in China.
