With almost blushing enthusiasm, state-controlled China Daily reported Taipei's Mayor Ma Ying-jeou's announced bid for the leadership of Taiwan's opposition Kuomintang party, observing that the KMT hoped "the handsome, articulate and savvy Ma" would pump new life into the party.
