China Mobile, fresh from a failed bid for Millicom International Cellular, is on the lookout for emerging-market acquisitions. In an interview with the Financial Times, chairman Wang Jianzhou said the company would continue to pursue a "cautious" drive to expand overseas. China Mobile's bid for Millicom ended abruptly last month, raising the possibility that the Chinese company may lack the ability to close global deals. Still, Wang said China Mobile's "go global" policy remains unchanged. The failed deal last month was the second time the company has not been able to make a valuable acquisition. In 2005, China Mobile launched an unsuccessful bid for Pakistan Telecommunications. Wang did not comment on why the Millicom deal failed.
