China Mobile has informed subscribers in Guangzhou that the firm will cut off calling and texting services if they do not register their accounts using their real names by the end of May, South China Morning Post reported, citing local media. According to a report from Southern Metropolis Daily, all users in the province must bring an ID and their SIM card to the company’s branches in the city to register in accordance with rules form the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Local branches of China Unicom and China Telecom said they had yet to institute similar rules.
