For reasons not divulged, China is considering opening a post office in the Antarctic, Xinhua reported. According to the report, a postal official is due to visit China's Changcheng research station on the frozen continent in the near future to see whether such a facility is needed. If so, the new post office will open later this year enabling mail delivered via Beijing to reach Antarctica, a postal official told the agency. The service would be limited to the continent's summer season.
