US sanctions against three Chinese companies for selling weapons to Iran and Syria are "totally groundless", China's Foreign Ministry said Tuesday. The firms are among 24 entities around the world hit by sanctions under the 2005 Iran and Syria Nonproliferation Act, which bars US government involvement with companies, governments or individuals that deal in missile technology, advanced conventional arms or weapons of mass destruction with the two countries, AFP reported. China National Electronic Import-Export Company, China National Aero-Technology Import and Export Company and Zibo Chemet Equipment Company were all targeted. "We strongly oppose this and demand the US side correct this erroneous action," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao during a regular press conference, adding that the US offered no evidence for the sanctions.
