China-Russia energy cooperation

Visiting Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan met with his Russian counterpart Igor Sechin earlier this week. Wang spoke highly of the bilateral energy cooperation between the two countries and said the relationship was all-round, wide-range and deep-level since the establishment of the Sino-Russian energy negotiation mechanism.
Among the fruits of that cooperation are the completion of the Sino- Russian pipeline by the end of 2010, the foundation-laying of the China-Russia Eastern Petrochemical Oil Refinery in Tianjin and completion of the negotiations on the extension of the Tianwan nuclear plant, the China Daily reported.
Citing an example of the two countries’ cooperation in electricity and natural gas, Wang said coal exports from Russia to China are expected to exceed 12 million tons in 2010.
