China Shenhua to spend $4.4 billion to double output

Shinhua China coal dumpChina Shenhua Energy, the country’s top coal miner, plans to spend RMB30 billion ($4.39 billion) to double its annual output to 400 million tons by 2015.
The company’s board secretary Huang Qing, who gave the news, said China’s economic growth is more stable and this is helping to boost demand for coal.
He said, "The operating environment in the second half will be better than the first half and our output and sales this year will certainly beat our original targets."
World Shipping News reported Shenhua had previously said it was aiming produce 197 million tons this year, up 6% from 2008, with sales of 220 million tons, down 5.5%.
