China spending big on international travel

Flight comparison site Skyscanner reports on which nation most on travel. Germany is in the lead while China is currently at fifth position.

Germans spend over $90 billion a year on their travels outside the country, a disproportionate amount compared to a population of  just over 80 million.

The next biggest spenders come from the United States which spends  $79.7 billion a year even though its population is roughly three times that of Germany.

In third place is Britain at $68.5 billion much of it on cheap flight holiday packages with Spain by far ther favourite holiday escape.
France, which is also the world’s most popular country in terms of tourist arrivals, spends $42.1 billion per year.

China is in fifth place at $36.2 billion. 

 
The amount spent on international tourism  according to The World Tourism Organisation were:
1. Germany – $91.0 billion (+2%)
2. USA – $79.7 billion (+4.4%)
3. UK – $68.5 billion (+4.4%)
4. France – $43.1 billion (+9.6%)
5. China – $36.2 billion (+21.4%)
6. Italy – $30.8 billion (+4.9%)
7. Japan – $27.9 billion (-7.9%)
8. Canada – $26.9 billion (+8.4%)
9. Russia – $24.9 billion (+11.8%)
10. Netherlands – $21.7 billion (+9.2%)
Which means that China has to increase by a whopping 300% to catch up with Germany while the only country with a negative figure is Japan.
