China to send more peacekeepers to Sudan

China will organize a fifth peacekeeping mission to the Sudan, state media reported, citing statements by an unnamed official with China’s Jinan Military Command Area. The team of 375 soldiers from the engineering and transportation corps will be deployed in Sudan’s southwestern Wau region "repairing and maintaining traffic and civil facilities." In addition, 72 members of the team will be on their second mission to the Sudan, and most of them have previously worked on disaster relief efforts for last year’s snowstorms and the Sichuan earthquake.
