[photopress:university_class.jpg,full,alignright]Foreign universities setting up shop and partnering with local institutions can, according to a memorandum, look forward to some serious scrutiny. The memo criticizes many foreign post-secondary programs for poor quality and high cost.
Foreign institutions are required to partner with local schools in order to offer programs in China. But, according to the government, many local universities have failed to evaluate their partner’s credentials properly. They also allege that some schools have admitted unqualified students or failed to secure student visas.
More than 700 courses offered by foreign universities are available in China. According to the Chronicle of Higher Education, many universities were not aware of the directive when contacted. Our illustration does not show such a class. Indeed, it shows the reverse. A proper university providing proper instruction.
