Many people view China more favorably than the US because America's image is still so tarnished by the US-led war in Iraq, the BBC reported Friday, citing a global poll. The US-based Pew Research Center said the US image has not improved in West European countries. In none of the 16 countries surveyed, including the US, does the majority believe the world is a safer place because Saddam Hussein was toppled from power. Significant majorities in all European countries, except Turkey, however, do not want to see China compete with the US as a military superpower.
