China's six new economic reform teams get to work

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang will oversee six teams to effect comprehensive social and economic reforms, Reuters reported, citing state media on Wednesday. Xi has been appointed the head of the central leading group for comprehensive reforms that will supervise the six teams, with Li as his deputy, state radio said after the group held its first-ever meeting. Letting China’s most powerful leaders take charge of the reforms may alleviate some investors’ concerns that Beijing lacks the political will to push through the difficult reforms deemed necessary.
