Chinese businessman pleads guilty to stealing US military aircraft data

Chinese businessman Su Bin pled guilty on Wednesday to charges of conspiring to steal US military aircraft data, The Financial Times reported, citing a plea agreement filed in the US District Court for the Central district of California. Su admitted to working with two unnamed Chinese co-conspirators over an almost six-year period ending just before his arrest in Canada in 2014, targeting Boeing’s C-17 military transport aircraft and Lockheed Martin’s F-35 and F-22 fighter jets. Su is due to be sentenced on July 13 and faces a maximum sentence of five years and a fine of US$250,000 or twice his financial gain from the spying, whichever is greater.
