Recruitment platform 51job publicly rejected claims made by a Chinese security firm that over 2 million job ads had vanished from its website this year amid the onset of an economic slowdown, Reuters reports.
51job posted on its official Wechat page that Tianfeng Securities had conducted “improper” analysis of the website’s data when it concluded that total listings dropped from 2.85 million to just 830,000 in the six months from April to September.
“The content of that research is contrary to facts,” 51job said in the statement, accusing Tianfeng of stoking concerns regarding the health of the Chinese economy. “Who gave Tianfeng the guts to do this?” the company added.
51job said that annual revenue growth of 30% in the second and third quarters of this year showed that the evidence was inaccurate. The company did not provide the true number of existing job posts, however.
