Chinese students head overseas

A record number of Chinese students – 300,000, the highest in the world – are expected to head for foreign schools and universities this year.
Many parents consider the local education system to be too rigid, and believe their children are put under too much pressure. A growing number of middle class parents are looking to overseas schools, colleges and universities for their children.
ChannelNewsAsia.com reports that the price of overseas education and relocation for a student remains high – about US$140,000 for a full education in Canada. And the child is going to be away from the family during the most impressionable years. However, apparently many families think the sacrifice well worthwhile.
