A US executive from Florida-based Specialty Medical Supplies was released Thursday after being held for nearly a week by Chinese workers over a pay dispute, The Associated Press reported. Chip Starnes, co-owner of the company, said the pay dispute was settled after funds were transferred from the US. While all workers will be terminated, they will receive an unspecified compensation package, and Starnes plans to rehire some later. Starnes was first detained by workers on June 21 when they saw equipment being shipped to India and feared the factory would be closed without paying them what was owed.
