City to build Formula One track

Shanghai will spend Yn2bn on building a Formula One race track, said a vice mayor of the city, Zhou Muyao. The track is part of a Yn50bn ‘auto town’ project being developed in Jiading district that will embrace automobile manufacture, design, sales and service. Zhuhai in Guangdong province built its own Formula One circuit six years ago, but it has so far failed to host a championship race. Beijing and Wuhan also want to build race tracks, said Shanghai Daily.

China’s first exhibition on the construction of sports venues is to take place in Beijing on November 13-15. It is being organised by Messe Frankfurt and Consultec.
