Court declares BMW case ruling valid

A Heilongjiang province judicial panel upheld the ruling on the Su Xiuwen BMW case. The panel said that a reinvestigation into possible corruption behind the case yielded no evidence of wrongdoing. The case involved the death of one peasant and the injury of 12 others after Su Xiuwen's BMW drove into a crowd in Harbin, Heilongjiang province in October 2003. The Harbin Daoli District People's Court passed down a verdict in December 2003 calling the incident a traffic accident caused by Su Xiuwen's negligence, sentencing her to a suspended jail term.
