China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL) is set to drop Tianjin from its China/Europe service in late January. Cargo moving over northern China and Bohai Bay will now move over Qingdao, further south. Cutting out Tianjin and centralising cargo flow over Qingdao should improve schedule reliability.
CSCL is in the process of merging its China/North Europe and China/Mediterranean services to offer alternate sailings over Piraeus, Gioia Tauro and Valencia. The two services will now be reduced to one that offers a 63-day round trip, and uses 4,500 and 2,700 teu vessels alternately. The use of the larger ships will allow calls in the Mediterranean on a fortnightly basis.
From late January, the new CSCL service will call at: Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Port Kelang, Piraeus, Gioia Tauro, Valencia, Felixstowe, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Port Kelang, Hong Kong and Qingdao.
