The latest generation of wireless internet that will allow people to watch a crystal clear movie or live sporting on the street or anywhere outdoors – but please not while
driving a car – is happening in Hong Kong.
Long Term Evolution (LTE) network gives ultra-high speeds across the city and might mean the end of plugging in computers for a connection.
The so-called fourth-generation system is being rolled out by Hong Kong mobile network operator CSL in partnership with telecoms equipment maker ZTE, Business Recorder reported. LTE enables faster data downloads and uploads on mobile devices compared with the 3G network. The system will give speeds of up to 100 megabits per second (Mbps).Meanwhile the report said CSL’s owner, Australian telecoms giant Telstra, is looking to make acquisitions to strengthen its position in the Asia Pacific region.
