[photopress:dalian3_1_2.jpg,full,alignright]Xia Deren, the mayor of Dalian, has announced that 20 new five-star hotels should open in the coastal city in coming years.
The announcement was made after the recent recognition of Dalian as one of the top travel cities in China by the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) and UN World Tourism Organization.
Dalian is the capital of Liaoning Province and currently has seven five-star hotels. Xia Deren said two more would be added to the inventory before the end of 2007, with another ten completed in 2008.
The Foshan Landis Hotel Management Company will invest RMB1 billion ($132 million) in a new five-star hotel in the Nanhai District of Foshan, and a Hong Kong-owned Grand Metropark Hotel will open on Xiaoping Island.
