Daqing Airport opens September 16

Daqing is a city in northeast China in the Heilongjiang province. The name means "Great Celebration".
 
It was founded in 1959 to house workers extracting oil and gas from the Daqing oilfield. Since its foundation it has been advocated as a model of good practice in industry and healthcare by the Chinese government.
 
Now Daqing Saertu Airport has been upgraded so that the flight zone is in the 4C category with a 2600-meter-long and 45-meter-wide runway accommodating the landing and taking off of 4C aircrafts such as the Airbus 320 series, Boeing 737 and MD90. 
 
The terminal building has an area of 13,987 square meters and will handle 1.47 million passengers a year which is projected for  2020.

reports Daqing Saertu Airport has successfully passed all tests and is now close to the ready-to-operate stage. Daqing Saertu Airport is expected to commence official operation on September 16.
