Death toll rises at Hangzhou subway site

At least seven workers have been confirmed dead following Saturday’s cave-in of a subway tunnel under construction in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, AP reported. Fourteen more workers are still trapped under the rubble, their fate unknown, as rescuers continue searching. Meanwhile, new cracks near the site raised worries of further collapses. Nearby houses have been evacuated, and the contractor responsible for the tunnel, China Railway Construction Group, has suspended the subway construction work for safety checks.
